What’s been happening:

2009 Status: I've lived in Sykesville, MD (35 miles west of Baltimore, just south of Hanover, PA) for 19 years now and have started to send my own children off to college (oldest son Ben now at MIT - class of 2012), 2nd son now in 10th grade and insists he'll be in Penn State's class of 2015 (and he's managing to get to about 3-4 Penn State football games each year, tagging along with his grandparents) and 3rd son an 8th grader. Hard to believe that Penn State graduation was 25 years ago, but I still do use the engineering education that I got way back then (at least those parts I can still remember).
